1# FOUNDATION COURSE (one day) run all year round, as required.        Open Dated

Covers:- Cleaving a log to size (making a billet), preparing billet for the lathe using a shave horse and draw knife, then turning the billet on the pole lathe using the roughing gouge and the smoothing (flat) chisel. this will produce a useful item. Additional techniques include burning a black line using a wire, smoothing and burnishing to obtain a slightly polished finish, also taught. The tutor will demonstrate each separate technique and will support and assist as required. The emphasis is on the trainee adapting the teaching and using it to produce a usable item at the end of the session. Frequently a garden dibber or spurtle. All tools are provided.

This course is currently 80.00 per person, maximum number of students per session is three.

The billet is prepared in advance of the course by the tutor. If you have a preferred date then email Colin to arrange before or after purchasing on line. Alternatively payment on the day can be arranged

This course is currently 40.00 per person, maximum number of students per session is three.

This course puts the student straight onto the pole lathe. Using the roughing gouge and the smoothing (flat) chisel. The student will produce a useful item by end of session. Additional techniques include burning a black line using a wire, smoothing and burnishing to obtain a slightly polished finish, also taught. The tutor will demonstrate each separate technique and will support and assist as required. The emphasis is on the trainee adapting the teaching and using it to produce a usable item at the end of the session. Frequently a garden dibber or spurtle. All tools are provided.

3# RUSTIC STOOL (6 hour- approx ) Run all year round, as required        Open Dated only

This course is currently 85.00 per person, maximum number of students per session is three.

This course uses the polelathe or the shave horse to produce three legs of the same length. Using the roughing gouge and the smoothing (flat) chisel if on the lathe and the draw knife if opting to make the legs on the shave horse. The student will produce a rustic stool by end of session. The tutor will demonstrate each separate technique and will support and assist as required. The emphasis is on the trainee adapting the teaching and using it to produce the rustic style stool.  All tools are provided.
